Josh is a licensed professional counselor, obtaining his masters degree in 2017. He has clinical experience working with children, youth, and adults. He utilizes strategies and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Existentialism, Person Centered and goal oriented approaches in a professional yet easy going manner. Josh knows how to be supportive and listen intently, while being able to also dig deeper and discuss challenging topics.
Josh has a wide range of experience that helps him be able to connect with anyone that is ready for change. His experience as a basketball and gymnastics coach and dance teacher, along with a history of mentoring youth and working along with their parents has set a foundation to be accepting of anyone and connect with them regardless of their age, gender, sexuality, or belief system. He began his joruney in the mental health field interning at a domestic violence center working with women and children escaping domestic or sexual violence and/or homelessness. He also worked at their sister site running male and female partner abuse intervention groups and individual anger management. Josh has spent the last few years working with people of all ages in individual therapy with whatever issues or challenges they are facing including: autism, LGBTQIA+, trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sports performance and mental blocks, career development, substance abuse, personality and behavioral issues, communication, parenting, ADHD, social difficulties, and many other common and uncommon things.
Whatever you are going through, or however far off your goal seems, Josh is ready to meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be. He doesn't believe anyone is stuck or without hope, and he believes that there is light to be found despite how dark things may seem.
In his free time, Josh enjoys all types of performing arts, sports, and gaming. His idea of a great vacation is having time to read, write, explore, take pictures, and connect with all of the people and cultures. He still works as a gymnastics and dance coach, and has had public speaking experience covering topics on mental health and performance.
